Objectives: This study aims to estimate the prevalence of burnout among dentists in Morocco and identify specific factors contributing to this condition.

Methods: A cross-sectional survey was conducted with 61 dentists, including 52.5% women, with an average age of 33.13 ± 1.29 years, working in both private and public sectors. Burnout levels were assessed using the Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI).
Results: The survey revealed that 39.3% of participants experienced high emotional exhaustion, 41.3% had high depersonalization, and 69.8% reported low personal accomplishment. Analysis of risk factors indicated significant associations with emotional exhaustion. Female dentists were approximately five times more likely to experience emotional exhaustion compared to their male counterparts (OR = 4.9; 95% CI: [1.5-15.3]; p = 0.01). Additionally, a low socioeconomic status
was found to be a substantial risk factor, with an odds ratio of 3.06 (95% CI: [2.51-185.83]; p < 0.001). In contrast, marital status and the perception of a gap between expectations and reality did not show statistically significant associations with emotional exhaustion.
Discussion: These findings underscore the need for healthcare administrators to enhance efforts in protecting the mental health of dentists and addressing burnout. Targeted interventions and support systems should be implemented to mitigate burnout and improve job satisfaction among dental professionals.
These findings highlight the need for healthcare managers to increase efforts to preserve dentists' mental health and combat burnout. Targeted treatments and support mechanisms should be created to reduce burnout and promote job satisfaction among dental professionals.
