Objectives: The health of children in school-age is measured by normal different indicators in both aspects physical and psychological health. Most common of behavior problems among children is a hostility that increased among them and had negative impact. This paper aimed to assess both the psychophysical indicators and hostile behavior among school age children, after that detect the relationship between this behavior with psychophysical indicators.
Methods: A cross-sectional study carried out in Al-Najaf governmental schools. The cluster sample method included 384 (girls & boys) children in age school. Data, collected through a adopted Arabic version questionnaire to test psychophysical Indicators and hostile behavior among them. Content validity of tool was confirmed by experts in this field, and it get high reliability respectively achieved according to Cronbach's Alpha test (0.88 & 0.92).
Results: The study finds the most children are a boy (62.2%), aged 8-10 years (46.1%), and in first and second stage (42.5%). About (51.8%) had hostile behavior extended from mild (35.9%) to severe (8.1%). While the psychophysical indicators (58.1%) are abnormal assessment in general, but all physical indicators assessment are normally in approximate (70%) of children. Finally, the relationship between hostility and psychophysical indicators are significant at (p=0.012) and there is strong positive correlation between them (0.94).
Discussion: The study concluded is more than half of children had hostile behavior and problem in overall of psychophysical indicators, but some indicators are normal like BMI percentile, heart rate, breathing, cognitive and movement indicators. Also, the study concluded the psychophysical indicators is abnormal among children that increased the severity and exhibit symptoms of hostile behavior among them. The study recommended increased the awareness of parents about the mental health with teaching them how nurturing their children and integrated program in education system especially in primary school curriculum how the child control their anger and accepted the situation that trigger the hostile behavior and prevent it.
